This Brand is about to explode. Artisan crafted carriers coupled with free spirited bohemian designs with enduring heirloom quality. Authentic yet understatedly luxurious, the Oscha Baby Carrier offers a knowing nod to parents who are not willing to compromise on style or sustainability. If you are looking to elevate your mumstyle these are for you.
Firstly an apology.
I should have let you know about this brand sooner. My youngest had just turned two when I first locked eyes with an Oscha baby Carrier.
I have always loved baby wearing. The ease, intimacy and versatility it gives you, especially once you are a mother to many, has been a game changer in my own motherhood journey. And I’ve owned my fair share of carriers. From my trusty everyday Carifit+ to my attention grabbing Artipoppe mama wolf , I’ve owned functional carriers and luxe carriers and everything in between.
So my heart sank when I found Oscha towards the end of my decade of baby wearing. A brand made exclusively in Scotland that screams quiet cool and looks as comfy as it is chic…sounds like my perfect match. As luck would have it my two year old still loves to be worn. “Can I be a Koala today mummy?” is a daily request and thankfully Oscha have a wide range of carriers suitable for up to 4 years.
Oscha have kindly sent me two carriers in their range suitable for newborns through to toddlers. For full disclosure I have only tested these carriers on my two year old.

Cairis Baby Carrier Review
How does it work?
The Cairis is a single buckle fabric carrier which feels like a hybrid of a structured carrier and a wrap carrier. There is a padded waist belt which buckles up, a generous front panel and then two long fabric straps which cross over at the shoulder blades, then again under baby’s bottom and are hand tied at the back.
My first impressions were that there is alot of fabric and certainly if you are used to a little compact bare bones contraption like a BabyBjorn, this feels like a departure. But I soon realise the advantages of this design.
Advantages of less buckles:
- Less plastic especially next to the skin
- Less worry about trapping baby fingers/accidentally unlocking
- Easily shared with partner as the carrier requires no readjusting of buckles
- Generous fabric allows for different shapes and sizes of wearer

Potential Pitfalls of this carrier:
Ground-skimming straps could be an issue in public, I would be very selective about where I choose to set down with my gorgeous Cairis!
One other thing to mention is that due to the lack of side buckles it is less easy to adjust the carrier once baby is in it. You need to make sure when pulling the straps around the back that baby sits high enough on your chest before crossing them over in front and then tying at the back. Get it wrong and you kind of need to start over.
However I will say this is the only carrier which suits my husband’s broad back comfortably.
Is it Comfortable?:
The carrier’s beautiful woven fabric is soft and breathable, moulding around baby’s body and allowing for the changing shape of both mother and child. Whilst the belt is padded it still remains soft and foldable allowing you to customise the carrier to suit even the tiniest of babies.
Ease of use:
Intuitive. I only needed to be shown once to know how to use this carrier although it does take some getting used to if you are used to a full buckle carrier.

What age is the Cairis Suitable for:
The Cairis comes in two sizes – ages 0-2 and 2-4yrs. My small 2.5 yr old was still able to sit comfortably in the baby version. The waist belt can be folded as much as needed to allow for a newborn baby.
How does it look?
I handpicked this design as I knew it would be easy to style with everything in my wardrobe. Classic black with white emerging tree patterns and celtic design undertones – simply stunning.
The Ancients of Gondor Cairis Baby Carrier is priced from £220

Bairn Baby Carrier Review
How it works:
The Bairn Baby carrier is probably more in line with other popular baby carriers right now in terms of shape. Again it buckles around the waist and has a cross over back which buckles on both sides to connect to the main front panel.

Ease of use:
As mentioned the design of the Bairn is simple and familiar (much like the Artiopoppe Zeitgeist) and it doesn’t take long to get comfortable with. There are some additional features which make this carrier superior in my opinion. Firstly I love the dual adjusters on the sides of the carrier which enables you to tighten baby in by pulling in both directions. I haven’t seen this on any other carrier.
Comfort:
This carrier does not feature a padded waistband which I personally love. I always found the padded waistbands incredibly uncomfortable postpartum and near impossible to sit down with. The shoulder straps are however padded for extra comfort.

What age is the Bairn Carrier Suitable for?
The Bairn is suitable for use from 0-2 yrs and I will say that my 2.5 yr old sits in it comfortably. All aspects of the carrier have been cleverly designed to be customisable to baby’s size. Firstly the waist band area can be folded to make the front panel smaller and sit higher. Also the waist is cinchable to the width of baby’s hips making acheiving the recommended ‘m position’ possible for all sizes. Additionally the dual adjusters and mouldable soft woven fabric allow for a snug fit to support tiny newborns.
How does it look?
I have rarely had as many compliments about a carrier as I have with this Misty Mountains Oscha Bairn (except for my first Artipoppe – before everyone had one). The colours are vibrant and I wondered how it would fit into my wardrobe of muted classics. This carrier truly elevated my look – I loved how the colours complimented my baby girl’s blue eyes!
The Misty Mountains Bairn Carrier is currently priced at £160

Employing local people and passionately supporting Scotland’s once-flourishing textile industry, Oscha embodies a holistic approach to ethical and sustainable business practices.
Oscha Vs Artipoppe
Oscha firmly fits into the luxe category of babywearing. These are statement carriers which are functional but also scream style and fashion forwardness. So I thought it may help to compare with its closest competitor. Honestly if I could go back to my early days of baby wearing I would choose Oscha over Artipoppe and here is why:
- As just mentioned Oscha’s carriers are crafted from start to finish in the British Isles and not in a China.
- Oscha authentically takes inspiration from the land in which they are crafted avoiding cultural misappropriation
- Oscha carriers are less stiff and structured than the Zeitgeist making for a comfier carry.
- Ability to bend, flex and cinch the oscha carriers makes them suitable for newborns where Artipoppe are best suited in my opinion from 3 months.
- A more accessible price tag. Whilst Oscha remains a premium brand with a luxury price tag they are more affordably priced than Artipoppe.
None of this is to say that I didn’t love and enjoy the Artipoppe which you can read about here. I just hadn’t met Oscha yet….
