V&A East Storehouse
Opens 31st May 2025
The V&A East Storehouse in Stratford, East London, is a new working museum that offers unparalleled access to over half a million V&A objects, 350,000 library books, and nearly 1,000 archives. Located in the former London 2012 Olympics Media Centre, it provides a behind-the-scenes look at how a major museum manages its treasures.
Unlike traditional museums, the Storehouse integrates over 100 “mini-displays” directly into its four levels of storage units. This creates an “Aladdin’s cave” experience where you can discover everything from Roman frescoes and samurai swords to Dior couture and Elton John’s costumes. A unique “Order an Object” service lets visitors book personal viewings of any item, making the collection truly “your collection, your way.”
