Charlie Avella – Editor
The Daily Mumtra was created in 2021 by Charlie Avella a mother of four living in Wandsworth, London.
A former Aerial performer and Dancer, Charlie spent her ‘pre kids’ life travelling the world. Her days were spent obsessively perfecting her craft. Nights were spent hanging from the ceilings of Theatres, Opera houses, Casinos and Cruise liners all over.
This seemingly glamourous life gave way to an altogether different lifestyle when between 2016 and 2018 her three wonderful little boys were born.
Selling off her trapeze in favour of a double buggy and stocking up with nappies as opposed to stage make up, Charlie found herself a rookie mum of three under three learning on the job.
The transition to motherhood came with a steep learning curve.
“Over those first three years of Motherhood I was paddling fast and fighting for survival. And for the most part I was able to hold it all together. I was tired and depleted but deeply rooted in gratitude for the the three babies I never dared to dream I would have.
It was only when the chaos began to subside that I started to realise something was amiss. Somewhere in the fog of mothering I had forgotten who I was. I was so busy keeping everyone alive I had forgotten to nurture myself. I hadn’t read a book for three years. Or watched a film. I felt bereft of culture and opinion. I had neglected my love of the arts and fashion. It’s painful to admit but in the self sacrifice that comes with motherhood – I had stopped thinking.
The Daily Mumtra was initially my attempt to piece myself back to together. Like a mood board of the motherhood I aspired to or a detective’s ‘investigation board’ where I was the missing person.”
From personal blog to now digital magazine, The Daily Mumtra has had an evolution itself. It is our mission to offer relevant and inspiring content for the modern mother. We welcome collaboration and contribution. If you would like to write for us please get in touch.
